The first page of Richard's letter to George, in which he gives a very frank description of his previous career. He says at the end, "I may add that in giving you the foregoing information I have done what I would not do for any other man living". Presumably he did so because he wished to marry George's daughter, but it is astonishing that he didn't try to "pretty-up" his less than illustrious history!
